Dr. Sahana Mitra
Dr. Sahana Mitra is a developmental psychologist with research and training in child psychology. She received both her degrees, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honors) (specialization: counseling psychology) and Master of arts degree in psychology (specialization: developmental psychology), from the University of Delhi, India. She earned her PhD in Social Sciences with a focus on ‘Parenthood through adoption: An Indian experience’ from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, India. Dr. Mitra completed her post-doctorate research and a visiting faculty appointment from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. She also received ‘Erasmus Mundus Fellowship’ by European Commission in 2014 to conduct the cross-cultural work between Indian and Irish adoptive parents. Having received her training in India in Art therapy, Dance therapy, and Sexuality counseling skills and a teaching experience of more than 9 years, Dr. Mitra is currently a visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Bahrain and University American College Skopje, Macedonia. Her current research projects are – Advocates perspective on victims of abuse (Bahrain); Digital child adoption (India); Irish-Indian adoption and, developmental outcomes of children with intellectual disabilities (Bahrain).
